Public Service Announcement: Check Your Pantries!

H/T to Milehimama, where I read this first:

The FDA is asking consumers to destroy Peter Pan brand and Great Value brand peanut butter, because it is contaminated with Salmonella. Destroy any jars that begin with product code 2111.

Here's the official news release from Con Agra, the manufacturers of Peter Pan peanut butter.

I found one of these jars in my pantry, and am just feeling lucky that we hadn't opened it yet.

  1. i had heard this on the news, but had no idea who the manufacturer was, nor did I know that the Great Values Peanut Butter was manufactured by the same Peter Pan Peanut butter manufacturer. Thank you for this information I am going to put it on my blog Shop Smarter and also put a link back to you as a resource.

  2. I heard this, too, from a friend that works in a grocery store. You're supposed to be able to get your money back, too, right?
