Menu Plan Monday, January 29

Between some award-winning recipes at Family Corner, last week's Menu Plan Monday, and the February issue of Taste of Home Simple and Delicious (Orgjunkie is right--get your hands on this one!), I didn't have too much trouble getting February's menu plan done! I'll be posting it here a week at a time, because I do adjust as needed when things come up. (That's why my menu's in pencil, folks)....

SUNDAY: Tandoori Chicken, Orzo, Roasted Brussels Sprouts, raw vegetable platter

MONDAY: Balsamic-Maple Pork Chops, Brown Rice, Steamed Broccoli

TUESDAY: Spaghetti and meatballs

WEDNESDAY: Beef & Cheese French Bread (from the Simple & Delicious magazine, p. 31)

THURSDAY: Chicken Marsala

FRIDAY: Spanish Garlic Shrimp, Jasmine Rice (didn't make this one last week)

SATURDAY: Company's coming for dinner! We're having Sweet Onion Pork Roast, Mashed Potatoes, and a vegetable to be determined later. For dessert, Lemonade Pie.

Don't forget to visit the Hostess of Menu Plan Monday to get all the links to all the menus and great recipes!

  10. My husband *looks* like a Brussels sprout (correct spelling btw!)He would eat them raw if he could. I saved the recipe too, and will use it at our next roast dinner.

    Thanks for that!

May I ask what sfo stands for?

  12. Susanne, "sfo" stands for "Secular Franciscan Order." It is a group of people who are not priests or nuns but instead living in family life (or single life) and who strive to follow the example of St. Francis of Assisi in our own lives. There are SFOs all over the world, and we meet in small groups to support each other in this walk of life.

  18. So, do you shop for a month at a time? Or do you shop weekly? Inquiring minds want to know! :) Your menu sounds great and I still need to try the brussel sprouts. Tell me, do they taste anything like any of the other green veggies or do they have their own distinct flavor? Hope you have a great day! (sorry I'm a day late)

  19. I shop each week. But we have an upright freezer, so generally I just shop to stock the freezer & pantry and get perishables. It's rare that we actually EAT the meat I buy on sale in a particular week, all in that week. It's spread throughout the weeks ahead.
Brussels sprouts do have a flavor all their own. If you like strong-flavored vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, etc. you will like them. I love the roasting recipe--it's so easy, and the results are amazing.
